Why does my iPhone 11 Pro Max EVER charge beyond 80%?

I charge my phone every night. My phone can go 2 days between charges. It doesn’t need a 100% charge.

I have “Optimized Battery Charging” turned ON. If my charge level were to drop to an “uncomfortable” level, I am always within reach of a charger. So there is no need to ever charge beyond the magic 80% limit. Or even 70% maybe.

Here is my Ask. I’d like an algorithm option to NEVER charge beyond 80%, or allow me to set some other personal percentage limit which suits my lifestyle.

Why? To extend the life of my battery.

I’ve seen maximum battery life settings available on notebook computers. Tesla cars can be programmed to stop at certain charge levels to prolong battery longevity. Hybrid car batteries can last indefinitely because they’re only supplemental and many just use the 40/70% charge range. I suspect that notebook computer or tablet batteries (being larger) are often “overprovisioned” with the effective charge range reduced to extended battery longevity.

That being said, mobile phones are another matter. Everything is shoehorned tightly with minimum volume being at a premium. Plus the replacement cost is cheap compared to the price of the device. I don’t know of any mobile phone that has a charge range limitation feature.
