Hello Chuck1942,

If I'm understanding you right, dictation is no longer working in Messages after updating to iOS 13.3. I know what a convenience it is to speak your text rather than having to type it out, so I'm happy to help you get it working again.

If you haven't done so already, test out dictation in the Notes app. This helps narrow things down a bit. After that, try out the steps below and test dictation in Messages after each one:

  1. Disconnect any headphones, speakers, or other accessories you have connected to your iPhone.
  2. Disable Bluetooth.
  3. Disable Dictation in Settings > Keyboard, and then restart your iPhone: Restart your iPhone. Enable Dictation after it's restarted.
  4. Temporarily remove all third-party keyboards from your device: Add or change keyboards on iPhone.

If dictation also did not work in the Notes app, this may be an issue related to your microphone. To test out your microphone, try making a recording in the Voice Memos app as seen here: If the microphones on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch aren't working. Follow the steps under the Get help" section of that support article if no sound was recorded in Voice Memos.
