Apple Verification pop-up showed someone else’s email
I got an Apple ID verification for an email that isn’t mine. Why and should I be afraid of my account being hacked???

It was actually the email of someone I used to date. Like 5+ years ago. Our info has never been together. It’s just weird that it would ask to verify that email on my phone. And no, no link. It was an actual Apple ID pop up. I got it both on my iwatch and iPhone

One possibility is it is a scam to get you to supply personal information. Was there a link in the email? What was it asking you to verify?
Perhaps you have an app that was downloaded with that person’s Apple ID. When the app needed to be updated you would be prompted for their password, because apps belong forever to the account that was used to download them initially.
The only thing different is the Apple update that happened automatically. Other than that, all the apps I used have my info. And it didn’t come from an app. It’s asking to verify my Apple ID. I’ve never had an app ask for my Apple ID info
When an app that was not purchased with your logged in Apple ID is updated it will prompt for the password for the password for the Apple ID that was used to purchase or download it. So most likely you have one of her apps.
Highly doubt that. Our phones have never been synced and it’s been 5+ years. I’ve never gotten the Apple ID verification for an app. Only to download an app or to purchase or when I change my Apple ID password. Anyway, thanks for your help.
