My builtin dvd player does not work with catalina

Downloaded Catalina (and all updates) and the cd/DVD player has quit working.

I cannot replicate your problem - mine works fine.

Try resetting NVRAM and SMC

Try shutting down, then booting the Mac with Shift key held down all the way through. Then reboot as normal.

This is to reset certain files and caches.
