iCloud

I need help with iCloud please. I use it on several of my devices. I have all my Airbook on iCloud and it works fine. I want to be able to access all those files on my desktop, but when I try all it gives me is files stored on that device and I can't access the ones on the Airbook. Calendars, Notes everything else syncs fine, so I am puzzled. Nothing I read online has been able to help me. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks.
