I'm not familiar with this exact model. Check the Promise download support site for a recent version of the user manual or compatibility list. Also keep the firmware up to date on your Pegasus unit. You should be able to use any sizes on that list although it may require you to create a new RAID from scratch to take advantage of the extra space (depending on the type of "RAID" used).
There is no way to know about support for larger drives that haven't been released yet, since those drives may use different technology which may be incompatible with the unit's drive controller (historical example 2TB drives and 4K block sizes).
If this unit is anything like some of the older Pegasus units you do need to be careful of how much heat the drives put off since we have a lot of older Pegasus units which will power off due to overheating which is exasperated by the extra heat some drives put out.

That is the promise module that fits INSIDE the new Mac Pro 2019 model, in an MPX slot/bay. It can currently hold 4 8GB Rotating drives and does its own RAID, It comes set for RAID-5 which drops effective capacity from 32 to 24TB.
It's a fair question whether you would be able to use larger drives, when available. One reviewer I read said Promise had told him it would accept larger drives in future, but Promise Web site is quiet on that issue.
It is always a mistake to spend today's Money on tomorrow's (not yet shipping) features. Computers will always be faster, better and cheaper if you wait, and sometimes those Promised [ugh] features never materialize.
So the Prudent way to proceed is to assume they will NOT be upgradable, and if that changes, "Merry Christmas", you get an unexpected present.
Thanks for the tip for how to get this in english, if you click through to a pdf of the compatibility you will see it can in fact support larger drives. Thats what I needed.
Thanks to both of you for helping me find the answer.
here: https://www.promise.com/Support
click Pegasus logo, then R4i, then Compatibility pdf right on top.
top download on this page does indeed show that larger Toshiba drives, up to 16TB can be installed:

Thanks for the info. I should have realized when "module" was mentioned. I'll have to look into this as I'm sure my boss will be doing something like this soon.
The j4i ships as 4x 8TB drives, 32TB raw. The question is whether it can use drives LARGER than 8TB per drive to go still higher in future.
I deleted the /fr to get English, but the pages you cited do NOT answer that question in any way I can see.
