Moved an old Apple TV (silver remote) to a new tv; data & privacy screen is shown with cursor on continue; not responding to remote but status light is flashing so remote is working; can’t get past this screen to set up the Apple TV - very frustrated- help!
The Apple TV may acknowledge the remote signal by blinking the status light, even when it isn’t set to respond to it. If your Apple Remote (aluminum) isn’t linked anymore for some reason, then try unlinking and linking again as described on If your Apple TV remote isn’t working - Apple Support (2nd half of the page).
