I can't get my iPhone to show up under devices on the finder sidebar

It shows up everywhere else fine but I can't seem to bring it into the sidebar so I have access to it for Photos and such. Is there some sort of process that I should know about to acomplish this?

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 12

Go to Finder, Preferences, Sidebar. Is CD's, DVD's and iOS devices checked under Locations?
