I have an iMac purchased in 2007. Considering a new one or possibly refurbished. I've looked at the product descriptions and cannot determine if the newer models have the CD/DVD slot like my old machine does. Please advise.

but you can get external drives which act as cd/dvd/blueray burners and readers I got one from asus it has a cable with 2 usb connectors one just for power as it has no other cable

be mindful that if you do go for the 2011 model to have the build in optical drive than
that model can't be upgrades past macOS High Sierra
so will never be able to upgrade to macOS Catalina
or macOS Mojave

Thanks and good point. With the discounts I have, makes sense to just go ahead and purchase a new one.
With the external will I still be able to transfer CD music to my iTunes?
It should be transparent for the operating system by what means the volume is connected
