I can't open word It is asking for user name and password and nothing I enter works

Sounds to me like it wants the credentials for your Office365 subscription.

For Microsoft products: Visit the Microsoft website.

There potentially would only be two times you would be required to enter user credentials with Microsoft Word:

1. As part of your Office 365 subscription.
2. If the Word document was saved with a password.
