undid file copy on accident, how do I recover the photos

luckily I didn't delete my photos from my camera after transferring. I accidentally clicked ctrl Z to undo in the wrong window, the window of the file my photos were transferred to and it instantly started to "undo file copy"

I realize people have mentioned there are file recovery software ways to find your files again but I JUST WANT APPLE TO KNOW this is the DUMBEST feature ever. Why would there be no pop up for a file copy, asking if you are "sure you want to undo". People may have already lost the location they transferred from and most likely do not want to send their photos to a blackhole somewhere on their computer.
