My daughter has a iPod 6th generation. She just updated to 12.4.4 and can’t see any new emojis. Can you not get them on this iPod?
I am not sure about this, but maybe those emojis where part of an iOS 13 update, and the 6th gen iPod touch cannot be updated to that. If the iPod currently runs 12.4.4 it means that you / your daughter owns the 6th generation, which is stuck on iOS 12.
For iOS 13.3, you would need a 7th generation iPod.
12.4.4 is a security update only. I doubt whether Apple will provide any new functional updates for iOS 12 now that iOS 13 (which require 7th generation iPod Touch) has been released.
