Get old version of Amazon Music

Is there an older version of the Amazon Music App for my iPod Touch 4th Gen? It's iOS is 6.1.6, the latest accepted.

When I try to download Amazon Music from iTunes, it says it's not compatible with my iOs.

This discussion from 2016 (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7543044) pointed to the following solution, which worked at the time but doesn't seem to be working anymore:

*** You first have to download the non-compatible version on another iOS. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists. ***

The above solution worked today for the Facebook app, but not for the Amazon Music app. Is it possible that the old version for this app has been pulled out of the App Store? Or am I doing something wrong?

I have a great Panasonic sound system which has a dock with the old Apple connector... That's why I'd like this old iPod to work.

Many thanks!!

Hello,

When an application is updated then the previous version is no longer available. Without getting too technical, iPod touch (4th generation) uses an older 32-bit processor architecture which was obsoleted by a more modern 64-bit processor architecture. The Amazon music application is now written for new 64-bit processors while your iPod uses a 32-bit processor. Your iPod is incompatible with these newer software types and there is nothing you can do to install it.

Many thanks for your reply, zmclearan!

Are you sure an older and compatible version is no longer available? Are you able to actually check that or are you guessing?

I'm asking because someone clearly stated that they were able to install an older version about 3 years ago (see discussion https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7543044).

Happy holidays! Cheers!!

Yes, I totally understand that but, if you check the previous discussion (link above), you’ll see that someone was able to download a previous compatible version of the Amazon Music app by following a very simple procedure.

Actually, I was able to download an old and compatible version of the Facebook app on that same iPod Touch 4th Gen by following the mentioned procedure. I did that yesterday. Obviously it is not the same version that I have on my iPhone 8, so the iPod was able to download an old version of the app.

I’m wondering why I could do it with the Facebook app, but not with the Amazon Music app. While someone else managed to do that a few years ago...
