I would like to know how I could widen the view the ratio of my screen on my iPad when I’m watching movies it’s a litter box and it didn’t start off that way when I first got the iPad a couple weeks ago

There maybe an icon onscreen to expand the movie to fullscreen.
By activating full screen, you will cutoff an appreciable amount of the movie image from both sides of the screen.

“Letter box”, “Letter slot” movie format is when large black bars appear above and below the area where the movie is playing, in order to fit the entire 16:9 movie format.
As in watching a movie through a home or apartment fromt door “letter slot”.
Quick double-tap on the screen will zoom in and center in 4:3 mode. It doesn't do an actual pan and scan though. Another double-tap will go back to regular mode.
