I cannot delete user, system asking password, I put the right one but still not allow

Macbook Air 2017 128GB

I try to delete the old users, after click on the "-" symbol, system require a password of that users, I type exactly the password I use to log in that user but system denied. Can anyone meet the same case before? Please help.

I have tried rebooting with Terminal and resetting password, but it doesn't solve the issue. is there a solution, or does it mean rebooting and doing a reinstall? I have High Sierra, with 16gb on two memory slots 8gb each. I wish I had not changed it at all, and set a new user instead! Many thanks in advance Sarah

Unable to change password for other user as Admin Currently using an Admin account on my MacBook Pro 2019 running macOS Monterey and trying to access other (standard) account because I can't seem to login (password for that account literally just sopped working after messing with GeneratedUID from this link: **** I need to access that account for some files and every time I try to change the password of that account using my Admin account through system preferences I get hit with "Reset password failed." Trying to do it through terminal its: "passwd: Authentication server failed to complete the requested operation. Authentication server failed to complete the requested operation." Stuck at "other" user at login after reseting my MacBook Air MacBook Air 13″ 2020 Intel i3 I recently attempted to factory reset my macbook by erasing the APPLE SSD via the terminal in the utilities of the MacOS recovery system. Then I reinstalled MacOS and it reinstalled MacOS Catalina. Now when I attempt to activate the macbook, it brings me to the welcome page, setting up in English and then connecting to wifi. But after that, I am stuck at the login screen with the only user being "other". It prompts a login asking for username and password which I don't have. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Did you unlock the padlock at the bottom left of that window?

Are you logged in as an administrator?

You need to use your admin password when deleting another user's account.

I did, of course I need unlock it so I can choose the "-" button.

And surely I logged in as an admin.
