I just did a migration from my old iMac to my new one. The time is wrong. I've followed the process for fixing it--going to Apple, Prefs, date and time....but I can't click on the automatic updating function--its shaded and doesn't recognize anything.
Have you unlocked the Lock at the bottom there?
The first thing to verify is that the computer is connected to the Internet, then please follow the steps in https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203413 or you have 90 days of complimentary AppleCare phone support, you can give them a call.
Select the Time Zone tab > click on the Lock (bottom left) and Unlock the Panel > set the desired Time Zone.
If that doesn't help, then you may not be Logged into an Admin. Account.
