Switching from old I phone to a new I Phone 11 Issue

We got a new IPHONE 11 and we switched the SIM card from old phone to new IPHONE 11. We set up the Apple ID and ICloud, but the text and phone calls are going to old phone. How can we fix this? It didn’t ever ask us to verify the phone number when we set it up.

also, the IPHONE 11 asked us to update phone and we did, but I don’t think that had anything to do with calls. It seems like we need to verify the phone number on the new phone but we don’t know how
