Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! I understand your camera is automatically zoomed in every time you open it. I definitely understand wanting to be able to snap a quick photo upon opening, and I'm happy to help.

You are spot on that this behavior could definitely be related to a setting. With that in mind, check out in Settings > Camera > Preserve Settings. If Camera Mode is enabled, try turning that off and testing if you're able to open to "Photo" from there.

Actually. I can’t go to .5 zoom. Only 1x to 5x

I’m having the same issue and your recommendation didn’t work. The image doesn’t look as good of quality anymore either. It appears as though the camera is only using the wide angle lens.
