Managing Family without Apple device?

So I need my own Apple product in order to keep my child safe on hers? Please tell me I'm missing something and Apple is not this poor at user friendliness.

Android parent with iPhone kids! Be aware... There's a big black hole in the Apple congregation. 4 billion Android users and plenty of these are parents with iPhone kids. Not a single Apple support page exits to adress this potenial suicidal combination. Apple have made it unbearable and impossible to manage an Apple family if the Parent doesn't have an Apple device. Administration isn't available over web (2021) or any Android app. For years these users have been totally left in the dark. If Apple would just acknowledge, support and inform these users that this combination isn't possible or at best extremely impractical. Thousen, if not millions, of people would save hours and days trying to set this up and manage their kids phone only to find out this is impossible. If I'd known what I know now I would never accepted the Apple gifts given my kids nor would I let them inherit grandparents iPhones or iPads. If my worst enemy used an Android I wouldn't give an iPhone to his/her kids. That would have been too vicious. This black hole need to be addressed. Foster daughters under age 13 leaving our home... How to handle family sharing / apple-ids We have two foster daughters both under age 13 who are likely moving to a new home. While here we bought each of them an iPod that we anticipate they'll be taking with them. The kids have been on our Apple / iCloud / Family share for nearly a year now, and I'm looking for advice on how to handle this situation if the next home is unable or unwilling to transfer the children's Apple-Id. As I understand it, that would only leave me with the option of deleting their Apple-Ids, but I would really hate for the kids to lose all their apps / games / everything else. We can't be the first people to run into this. Any advice?

Set up Apple ID for 12 year old (parents without Apple device) My child is 12, very nearly 13, and I'm trying to set up their new iPhone. Because they are under 13, I am told I need to do this via my Apple ID, and set up Family Sharing. So I log into my Apple ID account online (via web page on desktop browser) since I do not have any Apple device. Search for ages, no Family Sharing option anywhere in sight! Maybe need to enter payment information, which I do. Still nothing about Family Sharing, or adding a family member. Speak to Apple support, and they say it needs to be set up using an Apple device... seriously?? Is this *really* how some guys in Apple thought it should work? Can't set up your child's iPhone without having an iPhone yourself? Really? I am seriously unimpressed. I'd like to do this the right way, without just using a fake date of birth for my child to prevent me wasting any further hours of my life, which I will never get back, so please tell me there is a way... there MUST be. Surely. Surely?

You can set Screen Time restrictions directly on the iPad. For Family Sharing management, you need to sign out of their ID in Settings/Your Name/iCloud, and sign in with your ID. When finished, sign out of your ID, and in with their ID. Awkward, but others have done that successfully.

Thanks for confirming that's my only work around. I use a password manager to generate and enter my 16-character passwords into websites, so manually going through the process on a tiny iPod screen is a show stopper. Guess I'm shaking down friends for old apple devices.
