Yes, and that is moisture. Apple clearly states the the Milanese watch shouldn't be used around moisture. That is while I don't wear mine when working out, it is for dress occasions, I have other nylon bands for exercise.
Here's a really bad analogy: would you wear a silk dress shirt to work out in at your gym? It would stain and destroy it, so would this be the fault of the shirt maker?
Looks like it got wet several times and not dried afterwards. This is why Apple says the Milanese is not water resistant and shouldn't be used in moisture. It also isn't warrantied as such.
Apple does not state the Watch is waterproof they state it is water resistant and it is. You can swim with it using the sports band or the nylon bands. Would you swim with it if you were using a leather band? No, because Apple clearly states don't use the leather bands near moisture. They state the same thing regarding the link band and the Milanese band. They are NOT water resistant.
It has nothing to do with hot air and dry air. It does get very hot where I live. But if I'm going to be working outside and it is 109 degrees I know I will sweat so I change watchbands to one that IS rated for exposure to moisture (and easier to clean also). It isn't rocket science or brain surgery.
So buy you a sport loop (I gave a friend a Nike sport loop for Christmas: https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MWU42AM/A/44mm-pink-blast-true-berry-nike-sport-loop?fnode=a7182ff567f81ec7696b5fa861313cc2c1984945e28422a1d28bb7543bdbe876c6f68a541bdaab7c8cdf1e5d5c01fe7a6b0e631d6fc90d770e1e2eb7640d08ee3d371bfabece456f9872e640af773cce65896405ab8754a8cf33e14349304bb9
Get one of those and change it when necessary.
U R right, nobody cares, but sweat soaks into that type of band. You will need to wash it regularly to avoid smell.
This is why metal (such as stainless steel) may be ideal, as it is easy to keep it hygienically clean.
I am very surprised that Apple is so resistant to accept negative reviews that they can use to improve the product!
I wear the watch while training in the gym. Thus, it is “salt water” that accelerates the corrosion process. The real problem is that rust is harmful to the skin.
I use the Sport Band. Nothing soaks into it and it doesn't smell. And, most importantly, it doesn't get damaged by sweat.

Do you understand that you're not addressing Apple here? Neither deggie nor I work for Apple.
That is a lot of rust you are showing which would require a lot of water. So how did the water get in there?
I've had mine for at least that long and I don't have any rust. The person who got my first generation Watch has used that Milanese band for 5 years and is still using it.
I am very disappointed on your respond even worst that the Watch band itself.
The quality of the Apple Watch band is BAD.
A watch bands exist for a very long while on the market, way beyond Apple Watch time. It does no take experts opinion to conclude that if it rusted then it is bad for any user skin.
you do not want to improve the quality of the product and keep $100 in your possession then keep it.
Just act on the complain. Make it better.
if you believer that it is not warranty matter
if it got rusted then it is not GOOD.
I want the user

Then keep buying expensive ones and breaking them....
Seriously, though, who cares what the watch band looks like when you're working out? Not that I think the sport loop bands are "cheap looking".
You are deluding yourself if you think that sweat won't sink into the Milanese and stick to it causing an odor. And as you already know sweat causes corrosion. Are you exercising or playing peacock? And she really likes that band.
Um, she put that one on her Christmas list and put it on and told me she likes it. No need to see what is in her head and her husband would object. You were the brightest person in your class I take it.
I bought the sports loop after my wrist was hurting with the band that came with it. In a review I saw my first choice would look more purple than blue. So I ordered a different one that had blue in it. Now it seems no reviews are in the apple store. And I wanted to praise the sports loop because it helped me immensely. Later I discovered I had a lump (liquid as a flashlight could shine thru the lump) and the other watch band was pressing on it no matter which hole I used. Now I am able to wear the original band. Sorry your watch band rusted. assume no reviews on your watch band in the Apple Store. We depend on reviews.
That reviews on Apple Store are helpful. And maybe a review could have helped you know its possible to rust. Or allow you to review your watch band. The reviews were pulled from the online store. Without your post I might have ordered the one that can rust. As it wouldn’t be seen as a review prior to purchase. No offense intended.
So show me in the original thread or anywhere else, other than you, that this was about reviews? Also, do you remember the terms of use that you agreed to when you joined here? Did you read that part where we can't discuss Apple policy? And how would other users here answer your question regarding this and change it?
Most of the hardware reviews were ****, I can understand why there were pulled. All the OP would have had to do is read where Apple explicitly states the Milanese bands are NOT water resistant. That is far, far better than a review.
Deggie,
Thanks for the advice.
I wish I have that high tolerance for cheap looking bands.
