I have the series 5 and I'm trying to tap the face with 2 fingers to hear the time but it doesn't work. I checked all my settings to make sure the airplane mode is off and that the mute is not on and everything else possible but I still cant get my watch to say the time and yes it is set to always speak.
It worked only one time for me and that was it.

no it resets the connection between watch and phone,it makes a backup when you unpair so when you re-pair and the phone asks choose restore from backup and it will reset your connection.

I tried the force reset but that did not help. If i try UN-pairing and repairing will i lose anything?
2 options a forced reset if that doesn't work try unpairing and repairing again;
To force reset your Apple Watch, press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, then release both buttons when you see the Apple logo.
Check to see if silent mode is on in the contol centre.
Thanks for the speedy response. I’m not to bright with the watch yet so when you say control center where do i find that? I thought i found every mute on my phone and watch. 🤷🏻♂️
Slide up on your watch face that is control centre and silent mode is a little bell symbol.
