after installing Catalina Mac won’t turn on and shows no signs of power. No of the keyboard shortcuts recommended to me are working what should I do

Try an SMC reset if you haven't already done so.

Or if you have a USB-C laptop:

If you power on the laptop and wait a minute does the Caps lock LED light up if you press the Caps Lock key? If so, then your laptop is most likely booting, but you cannot see anything on the display. If this is the case, then connect an external display to the laptop. Sometimes you must force the laptop to use the external display by triggering clamshell mode by connecting a USB keyboard & mouse and closing the display. FYI, the laptop will automatically power off if it sits at the login screen for more than a minute or two. At least this allows you to continue using the laptop and to back it up before getting it repaired.


If none of this works, then you will need to take the laptop to an Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider to be examined.
