This is a trivia question for me and always was. Where are the update are getting installed. Sometimes I see them in download folder, but its very seldom. Many times questions pop up open and install. So after the update there all the updates located, I don't see any.
Maybe this time I will get lucky and find the answer. Thanks.

If it doesn't go into the downloads folder, it is probably stored in a temporary directory (there are several).
They could also store them in an Application Support directory if they choose to manage the purge themselves.

Many updates purge themselves as Barney says.
Are the updates getting deleted, if they are not, then I have gigs of installation files stored in my temp folders in the last 20 years, :o)
