Link Mac Calendar to iPhone 11 Max Pro

I've tried to follow steps on Google to link my calendar to my iPhone and the toggles are on(green) on both my iPhone and Mac. Can someone please tell me how to link my calendars together? I like to be able to type events in on my Mac and have it automatically fill out on my phone when I go into the calendar app and vise versa.
