How to stop Safari on Mac from deleting browsing history?

Currently using MacOS 10.14.6 and couldn't find any preferences in history to change in order to stop safari deleting browsing history. All the options show is deleting a certain timeframe which I don't want. Is it possible to adjust history settings to never delete anything?

MacBook Air 13", macOS 10.14

If you go to Safari/Preferences/General/Remove history items, do you see a manual option in the dropdown menu?
