Why won’t my iPad update past 9.3.5

My mum gave me her iPad as she bought a new one.

I can’t get it to update past 9.3.5?

I can’t download Netflix or YouTube onto it.

I read that you can’t update old iPad? I assume this is an older iPad because it says it’s update. But it isn’t. Is there a way I can’t get Netflix to download? Or watch it on safari without having to download it.

iPad, iOS 9

You got a pretty useless iPad, now.

Many, MANY, third party app devs, since the beginning of 2019, are abandoning all old 7, 8 and 9-year old iOS devices at a much staggering rate, now!

These iPads are quickly no longer being supported any longer!

There is no way any longer to get older versions of apps, initially, from the Apple iOS App Store, any longer.

If you have never owned a previous iOS device and have never installed in older versions of apps previously, then this iPad model is, basically, at the end of its life.

Sorry.

Hello,

If your iPad will not update past 9 then you have either an iPad 2, iPad (3rd generation) or iPad mini (1st generation). These iPad models do not support any system version newer than 9. You cannot update your iPad any further. If you need to use software that requires a newer system software version then you will need to purchase a newer iPad model.
