My old iPad won’t let me update it to I.o.s 14. It also won’t let me get Netflix why is this

Hi Amie,

You list in your product type iPad Air. I assume this means Gen 1 iPad. Ipados 12 is the last supported version for the iPad Air Gen 1. And the Netflix app likely -- though I don't know this for certain -- no longer supports iPadOS 12.


It may be time to look at a new iPad or check out Apple's Refurbished Store for what I think are great deals on refurbished options.

How to Update an iPad:

By using a compatible device, and reliable connection.


I. Start Here: If your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch won’t Update - Apple Support


II. Verify Compatibility:

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: About
  4. View: the model shown

Then, see if the device is shown here:
