Can't quit or find QuickTime to shut it down.

I need to shut down my computer and I can't because QuickTime seems to be running in the background. I have tried all the things mentioned in older posts - using Force Quit, that does nothing, going into Activity Monitor and turning it off there. It doesn't appear in AM at all. I've also tried removing it from the dock. It comes right back. What else can I try? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Press-and-hold the Power-button. That will do a forced shutdown.
