Scroll bar arrows

I want to return to MacOS after a long absence as I require word prediction software due to my physical disability. I have been a word prediction user for over 20 years, and miss it’s stability in MacOS compared to Windows where it now has growing limitations.

However, the lack of scroll bar arrows worries me, as does Tim Cook's and Margaret L.'s failure to acknowledge this as an accessibility issue.

Not everybody can a mouse, let alone a scroll wheel.

Can anybody tell me if any secondary software is available to resolve this issue?

Thanks. Sarah

Thanks for putting the screen capture up :-)

I have used "always show" but am referring to the actual clickable arrows shown below. They give much more precision of control.

I really think that Apple have misjudged this one and don't want to "back down" proving that users are right.

It is so frustrating as in Windows, there are two "normal" scroll bar arrows and I can even edit the registry to make the scroll bars much wider, but I really need stable, cross application word prediction which macOS and WordQ5 would give me. Its so frustrating.

I am considering a Mac Mini, but am worried about the physical aspect of swapping the keyboard and trackerball over as neither are bluetooth.

I have a gaming PC purely so I can run applications at "Mac speed" in Windows, but need software that is "Windows only" for my computing degree. I'd also be testing my own software as I am studying development, so do need both computers. The display is no problem as it has multiple inputs.

Thanks again,

Sarah

Sarah,

There is no replacing the old Snow Leopard double-scrollbar user interface, as that is almost a decade old now, and Apple has long since moved on with its design and functionality architecture. These changes were on the product roadmap while Steve was still here…

Eau Rouge has some useful suggestions that I know are a compromise from what you want, but may still prove useful.
