I keep trying to update macOS high sierra security update but it will not update on my MacBook air

MacBook Air 13", macOS 10.12

Hi Yolanda, try it in Safe Mode...

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

I will try this. Do I restart or just shut down then hold shift key as it restarts? Thank you
