Failing To Download The Security Update 2020-004 10.14.6

Hello, I have a MacBook Air and my software system is macOS Mojave 10.14.6. For some reason I can't update the Security Update 2020-004 10.14.6. It always gives me an error message saying that the system failed to update. What should I do?

The course of action may be to use Disk Utility to repair the system drive.

A few options exist and some could also go beyond the immediate need.

"..Start up from macOS Recovery, then select Disk Utility from the Utilities window.

Click Continue. If you're not repairing the disk your Mac started up from, you don't

need to start up from macOS Recovery: just open Disk Utility from the Utilities

folder of your Applications folder.."

You may simply try and use Safe mode on startup; then restart, and that could help.

Good luck & happy trails!🌞🐝

PS: according to mr macintosh article, july 16 2020 at 12:01PM

{see in notes beneath article copy}

"..To clarify, you can use the –ignore flag to block minor and major/minor updates

on 10.13, 10.14 & 10.15. Once you upgrade to Big Sur, you will no longer be able to.

The only option will be to use MDM with a maxof 90 day deferral.."

{..For some reason my macbook pro with Mojave previously was blocked.

Then two updates ago, became unblocked; and update notices, returned..}

Maybe - I'll see if the 'terminal feature' works; & re-turn it 'off' - again?!🐌🙈

Had hoped that someone could make a work-around, functional..

Could try the old mechanic's trick: A piece of black tape on dash

board, to cover the "red warning light" so the driver can't see it?!

Probably not a practical idea; bad humor aside. I'd covered 'idiot

lights' before, nothing toxic happened. Maybe Mr Macintosh has

some ideas that would work for Mac issue; no tape though..?🤔😊
