Maps v2.1 - Blank Screen
Opened up Maps app just now and the map is a blank screen. Satellite mode is the same thing.

It actually has nothing to do with Maps per se. macOS is very complicated and between it and whatever apps may be running, the computer can get into a state where one thing or another is not working as it should. Restarting resets things. It doesn't happen often.
Your reply is unacceptable. I have never had issues like you described and have only had to reboot my MacBook when there is a MacOS update.
Because of map accuracy issues with prior versions of Maps, I became dependent on Google Maps. I read an article today that stated Apple Maps was more current because Apple was now updating maps themselves for greater accuracy. Today, I decided to use Maps.

As I said, it doesn't happen often. You don't have to accept it although it did fix your problem.
Try restarting your Mac.
While rebooting resolved the issue, this is not a solution.
Why did the problem occur at all?
Why should the only way to restore Maps is to reboot Mac?
