Can't play a song I own without Apple Music subscription

Still having this problem . I have iOS13.3. Just purchased music from iTunes on my iPhone 11. Some of the tracks play but others, the most popular ones - what a coincidence - won't play. Simply send you to the Apple Music ad.

The tracks will play if you select play the whole album, just not if you select a track directly.

I welcomed the news that iTunes was going back to being a music app only. Will this get fixed or will we have to join Apple music against our will?

Hey sparkchaser1200,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! it sounds like you're running into some trouble playing items that you've purchased on your iPhone. I'd be glad to look into this with you in a bit of detail to see how we can get that taken care of.

Since you mentioned this only occurs with specific songs, let's delete and redownload one of those songs first. Delete music, movies, and TV shows from your device should help you get started with that.

After deleting that one item that we're testing with, look over Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books to help with redownloading that track. Once that is done, see if it will play correctly or if it launches an Apple Music subscription message like it did previously.

Have a great day.

Brian_P7,

Thanks for the suggestions. Since I had made my first post, Apple Music has somehow fixed itself. The very track I was trying to play that was the subject of my post, now plays without out any problems. I tried to play other tracks that I had trouble with in the past, all play as intended.

While this pleases me, I cannot explain how it happened.

Thanks for the help.
