Seems I can't connect my Kindle with an USB cable to my Catalina Macs. I am not talking about the Kindle app but just the connection to the computer (I use Calibre). The Kindle does not appear as a device. Charging works, but just that. Anybody with the same problem?

actually I think I solved it. Seems to be the usb cable. Kindle seems to require specific cables for data transfer. Most of my cables don’t work with Kindle (but power wworks) although work fine with other devices. Only few Ian cables work so now I wrote Kindle on one of those.
OK then your kindle socket is probably damaged or worn. Use the one that works best.
The EU mandated microUSB for all phones and fortunately Apple ignored them because microUSB are weak and flimsy.

Kindles take any microUSB cable but (unlike Lightening) the cables and sockets are easily damaged.
