I got an iPhone 6s but it’s locked to a network and I can’t use a sim

I got iPhone 6s from Santa but it’s locked to an network and I can’t use a sim, can someone help me please. I bought a three sim but is not recognised.

The device is locked to a carrier and only they can remove their lock.
