In-app purchase

My son received Apple iTunes cards for Christmas and I have redeemed them on the store for him. They show available in his account but when he tries to purchase anything he gets message “your purchase cannot be completed”. He has no problem “purchasing” free things from the store. Ideas?

If it also says to contact iTunes Support have you/he done so ? If not you should do as instructed and contact them : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww (click on your country's flag, the country where you live, and which is therefore the country on the account ; click on Get Support)
