Set up seperate Icloud account for my wife's ipad and iphone

When I got my wife an Iphone last year , I set up her I cloud account with my email. Last month, I got her an Ipad Air. I got an Iphone (Iphone 8 - switched from a flip phone) for Christmas. Now texts and Imessages go to her devices as well as mine. Can I remove her devices from my account and get her an account under her email and phone number?

iPad Air, iOS 13

Hi SGTROCK222,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! Based on the details you've shared with me, it sounds like you and your wife are sharing an Apple ID account, which is why your text messages and more are being shared with one another. I can help.

What you are describing is expected behavior for iCloud. When you are signed in on multiple devices using the same Apple ID in iCloud, it is meant to sync data across all devices. This includes text messages, phone calls, and more. You would need to sign out of the shared Apple ID on one device, and create a new Apple ID account to use with that one device instead. This way, you and your wife each have your own separate account and will no longer share that data. Please reference this article when it comes to signing out of iCloud on your device: Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac - Apple Support. You can use this article for guidance on creating a new Apple ID account to use with iCloud: How to create a new Apple ID - Apple Support.

You have two services on your iOS devices that use an Apple ID account; iCloud and iTunes & App Store. You are able to sign out of iCloud, while remaining signed in to the same account for iTunes & App Store. This will ensure you can continue to use and update apps that perhaps both of you are using. However, Apple does recommend that each user has their own Apple ID account. If you wish to continue sharing some data with one another, such as App Store purchases, subscriptions, and more, you should consider setting up Family Sharing: Set up Family Sharing - Apple Support.

Best regards.
