Poor BT audio quality on Catalina

Hello there. After updating my MacBook Pro 13 Touchbar (mid 2017) to Catalina, my BT audio quality dropped significantly. Using the same pair of Beats Studio 3 Wireless on my iPhone sounds like usual (full and bass heavy), but there is no definition or bass on the MacBook anymore. Am I the only one with that issue? Please, help me find a solution, it's freakin' terrible :(((

SOLVED

I did a reinstall, nothing happened. Then I got in touch with the local Apple Certified repair shop. They told me it's a common problem with Catalina and it's caused by a messed up settings after updating. So they've instructed me on the phone to do this:

Settings/Sound/Input/Internal Microphone - while the headset is connected.

It worked. Very counterintuitive . . but it worked like a charm! The sound is now back to what it used to be before the update. Audio quality is back to EPIC, sound levels are back to normal, the bass has returned and nothing sounds muddy or compressed anymore. Special thanks to iStyle Repair Shop in Sofia, Bulgaria for taking care of my issue, if they have someone in this community to read that. 👍🏻

Hello i_rina.

Thanks for the response. Tried the steps you've pointed out, but to no effect. My Beats firmware was the latest version already and I don't have any connection issues. Never had connection issues or dropouts, since my Beats are using the W1 chip. Checked my sound settings top to bottom, they are the default settings (never changed anything there), checked and double-checked my EQ settings inside the Apple Music app.

UPDATE:

I've connected my Beats to my MacBook, using the cable, just to see if there's gonna be any difference. It got the sound going like it should and like it used to be using bluetooth before I've updated to Catalina. I've also tried another pair of headphones on both the MacBook and my iPhone to see if the issue is related to my Beats. The results are the same. The other pair sounded awful on the MacBook over bluetooth and good on the iPhone. It seems the problem is OS related. I'm not keen to roll back to Mojave, but if that's what it takes to solve the issue...
