I dont have space in iCloud and needed to back up manually in itunes. I borrowed someone's laptop because i don't have mine at my disposal. I got hit with an error message saying "there are purchases that are not in your library and are not backed up" or whatever. Theoretically if the purchases are on my laptop, they should be fine, right?

If you've backed up those purchases to your laptop, they should be safe. Even in the case that they're not backed up to your laptop, you can always redownload them: Redownload apps, music, movies, TV shows, and books
