Hi nneptune07,
Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! I understand you have a concern regarding the display of your MacBook Pro. I'd like to explore this with you further.
Let's work on isolating the issue to see if we can figure out the cause. This will help us determine the best solution. First, I would recommend resetting the NVRAM, as it relates to the display resolution. Here's how: Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support. Test to see if that helps. If you have any additional peripherals connected to your MacBook, try disconnecting them to rule out interference as the cause. Also, make sure your macOS is up to date: How to update the software on your Mac - Apple Support.
If the above steps do not help, let's have you boot up into safe mode. It’s a way to start up your Mac so it performs certain checks, repairs, emptying of system cache, and prevents some software from automatically loading: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support. Once in safe mode, check to see if the same behavior continues when you wake your Mac from sleep. Sometimes safe mode can successfully resolve some issues. With this being said, after testing in safe mode, restart and log in as normal to see if that helps resolve the issue.
Keep me posted on the results. Regards.
