airpods pro rattling sound

I ordered the AirPods pro of its first week. I have to admit I dropped them at least twice in the past 4 weeks that I’ve had them. But I’m already having to replace my right bud due to it making a constant rattling sound for every step or movement I make! Sure the sound quality and features still work but it really gets annoying to hear that constant rattling sound. Like something is broken from the inside just because I dropped it twice! I’ve never Nor even had a problem with my old generation AirPods. Now just a week of receiving my replacement, now my left bud is starting to have the same affect (rattling sound) right now I just feel like returning the whole product entirely. Knowing how easy it breaks.

I contacted Apple support and they offered to send me a replacement left AirPod, which is the side that rattles. They put a hold on my credit card for $89, and are also sending a prepaid shipping box to send my broken AirPod back to them. The rep told me that if they take it apart and find out that it was my fault, they’ll charge me the $89. Not my fault? Refund the $89.

A little wary about it all. From my understanding, the only way to take apart an AirPod pro earbud is to destroy it. What’s to stop the techs from claiming the damage WAS my fault and netting them a free $89? No evidence either way after they rip it open.

oh, and I bought them day 1 on October 30th, so as of today, January 27th, I’ve had them for over 2 months. Apple still offered me a free replacement if the rattling is their fault.

Will update once I get the results of my defective AirPod Pro’s tear down

Hello Dpdjoseaz,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! I understand your AirPods make a rattling noise. I'm happy to assist you in any way possible.

Because the AirPods have been dropped, they may need to be inspected by a Genius to determine if there is a hardware issue. I'd recommend reaching out to Apple Support for assistance. You can contact here: Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

Best Regards.
