extended keyboard not working

I'm not using wireless keyboard, but use a USB extended keyboard. Last week my extended (numbers only) I was not able to use the extended part and I really need that. I thought the keyboard went out so I ordered a new one and replaced it with the old one. I got the same problem. It's a MacOS keyboard. Now I'm thinking it's a system issue. Can you help me?
