How do I clear my “today’s” off my home screen as i must of accepted keeping it on Homescreen by accident. I would like to just slide cross to see it not have it as a permanent fixture?

Assuming your are running iPadOS 13.x - this is the setting:
Settings > Home Screen & Dock > Keep Today View on Home Screen - switch to OFF.
