Office 365/Exchange Contacts Not Syncing With Mac Mini

Hi All,

I have two Mac Minis. One is a 2014, the other a new 2018 that I just got from a friend. My company uses Exchange Office 365. I think that’s what it is called.

On my 2014 Mini, everything syncs fine. Email, Contacts, Calendar, Notes, and Reminders. But when I set up the new one, the Exchange Contacts do not sync. The other four categories are fine. But even though Contacts is checked, they do not appear on the new Mini.

I have the machines side by side, so I can compare and make sure I’m not missing anything. As far as I can see, they are mirror images of each other with that one notable and vital exception.

And because deleting the account and trying again on the new Mini would remove it from the Keychain, that’s not an option. Nor is turning the account off on the new Mini and trying to add a duplicate because it won’t allow me to. “This account is already here” basically is the message.

I’m not expecting an answer. I will likely give the new machine back. But I figured what the heck.

Thanks.

This sounds like a MS Office365 configuration issue. It is not related to the Mac mini hardware.

I do recommend to get in touch with your IT department, IT Admin or Microsoft's Office365 support. I guess you are missing some kind of domain specific settings e.g. autodiscover, port, authentication type that are related to your company. Make sure both Mac minis are running the same Mac Office versions.

Hello Tom,

I'm not using any specific Office software on either Mac. This is just me trying to add the account to the Mac in System Preferences. To sync all the various things. I did speak to the IT people and they said it would be costly and time consuming for them to solve. My CFO would kill me since it's my home machine. And since Office 365 is cloud based Apple can't really tell me it's a server issue.

The newer machine was given to me, but is not eligible for AppleCare. So unless I can figure out why Contacts won't sync I will have to give the new machine back. Then if I do purchase a new one from Apple I can add AppleCare and then it's on Apple to help me.

Thanks
