Secret diary app for iPad removed

Has anyone been able to locate the developed of Secret Diary app ? I had this app on my iPad, and it was removed some time go, the app had such a lot of personal information about events, outings, etc. I know now that it was foolish to put so much faith in an app, but I did not expect it to be removed from my iPad. Who has the right to do this anyway? If anyone can help, please let me know!

iPad 2, iOS 9

Any App purchased from the App Store can be disabled, by Apple, if it contravenes Apple's strict Developer rules - or if it presents a significant security risk. Whilst possible, this is perhaps an unlikely scenario.

What is more likely is that over time, the App you describe is no longer supported by the App Developer - and, following updates to iOS on your device, is either:

  • no longer compatible with your device
  • has been removed from the App Store by Developer - or by Apple if the App was abandoned or no longer meets current App rules.

Developers that distribute their products via the Apple App Store are required to “maintain” their code - or they risk having it deleted from the Store.

If the App has been removed from your iPad, and is not not available for download from the App Store servers, then it is lost.

I note the signature in your question suggests that you have an iPad2 with iOS9.x installed. Both of these are very old - and I suggest it is extremely likely that the App in question no longer supported - and has long since disappeared from the App Store.

If my supposition is correct, then no, there’s nothing that you can do. However, if the App exists in the App Store in an updated form, then replacing your iPad with a newer model (to at least meet the “App” minimum requirements) would restore access to it - and give you a much more capable iPad in the process.

Your iPad2 was released by Apple way back in March 2011 with iOS 4.3 - so its almost 9 year old technology. The final supported version of iOS was iOS 9.3.6 - which was released 4 years ago and marked the end of support for iPad2. It’s had a long life, but perhaps it’s time to update to a device that can run the current (or a least a more recent) version of iOS/iPadOS and modern Apps?
