MacBook Pro 2019 graphics 4GB or 8GB?

I'm finally going to replace my mid-2010 15" MacBook Pro, though it still works. I'm configuring a 16" MacBook Pro now. I'm going with the 2.3GHz processor, 32G of memory, and 1T drive.

I am not sure what to do about graphics. I am not a gamer and do not currently do video editing. I doubt that I'll get into gaming but might want to get into video editing. Is there any reason for me to go with the 8GB 5500M over the 4GB 5500M?

Hi teryg,

if you plan to work on large graphics heavy projects you will benefit going with the 5500M 8GB for better performance.

If you might do a little video editing that doesn't involve large graphics heavy projects you might be fine with the 4GB.

If you have the money it might be a good idea to future proof it so to speak as one can upgrade it after purchase.

I hope this helps and best wishes to a happy 2020!
