Why do I have so much trouble keeping my keyboard connected to my iPad?

Why do I have so much trouble keeping my keyboard connected to my iPad? Anyone Else have this issue? I unpair then it takes forever for the iPad to discover the keyboard I have to try a million times. This is a new iPad. I know it’s not the keyboard Because my iPhone picks it up immediately. Any suggestions?

Yes I’ve done all that a million times. It won’t stay connected. The only way to get reconnected is to click forget this, shut down the iPad and start over it’s a real pain and that only works a short time thief it disconnects again.
