Old iPhone photos not in phone

ive had my iPhone 8 for about 2 years and have only just realised that my photos prior to 2014 haven’t been transferred but those from 2014 to 2017 were. The photos from 2011-2013 would have been an iPhone 4 and from 2014 it was a 6s. I’ve checked and the cloud is turned on and so I’m a bit stumped but also a bit scared that those photos are lost which means all my sons baby photos 😫 can anyone help?

If No,

Do you have iTunes Backups? Do not restore from it as that will erase all 2014 to 2017 and current ones. The step to retrieve is a long process. Once you confirm I shall share the process here.

If no iTunes backup, all is lost.

If yes,

- Import to a Mac or PC --> Transfer photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod ...

OR

- If you are using the same Apple ID on all devices, turn On iCloud Photos on all the devices. All Photos will now be available.
