Control Surface for GarageBand

Hi first time posting. Sorry for the fluff here but I may have a few upcoming questions so I want to introduce my situation.

I have inherited the duties of recording and mixing for my band and for now and intend on using GarageBand for Mac a lot of these duties. I am not totally useless on GB but will need to quickly expand my knowledge. Also as of now I am not planning on upgrading to Logic.

My first question which I am afraid I know the answer to:

Is there any way to assign the DAW control on my Arturia Keylab Essential to operate GB? Or another Control Surface?

From my research it appears not, but hoping I have missed something.

Also related, is there a compatible Midi USB foot controller for punching that works for GB?
