erasing Macbook Air with Catalina to give away

I had trouble erasing my MacBook with Catalina (I want to give to a relative). Signed out of Music/itunes and messages but couldn't sign out of iCloud (directions assumed I had Mojave and nothing on internet could help me with Catalina) so I decided to restore to an earlier date (before Catalina) with Time Machine. All going well until it stopped restoring (didn't finish) but said I needed to reinstall MacOS. So I read up on that and it said before reinstalling MacOS, if I'm giving it away, to erase my disk, so I did and then reinstalled MacOS (no other choice but Catalina). This is where I am now, Catalina is installed and MacBook Air ready for set up. Before I give this away, I don't know if my iCloud account is still on it. How to find this out? Should I set it up and to see if it's there? And if it's there, how do I sign out of iCloud on Catalina and being erasing again?! What to do?!

You can sign out of iCloud by following these instructions: Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac. They're not specific to any device or operating system.

You're probably ok giving it away as it is now, since your relative would need your Apple ID and password to sign in to your iCloud Account. He or she will want to use his or her own Apple ID. Yours won't be a factor.

What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Mac describes all the relevant steps. Your relative should be greeted with the same exact setup procedure that appeared on your Mac when you bought it.
